A process in reorganization of the craft room and supplies
A few months ago, we had a water heater break which flooded our basement and seeped under the floor of the craft room/office. Although frustrating, I took this as a way to finally organize and purge my crafting supplies which I haven’t really done since I started 15+ years ago. This process was long and mentally exhausting and I wanted to share my process in the hopes that it would help you as well in your journey.
Start at the beginning
The first step was to remove everything. This had to happen so the contractor could rip out the floors, baseboards and clean everything before putting it all back. While the work was being done and I was without my craft room, I took the time to reflect on how i craft, how I use the space and what do I actually do. So I propose you ask yourself these questions:
what do you use every time you sit down and craft (these are high real estate items)
what kind of a crafter are you? Do you start and finish in marathon sessions? Do you sneak time and need to leave items set up? Do you have trouble putting away as you craft- and end up with a craftermath?
What do you like to do? One craft or many? Do you craft by yourself or with others?
