Altenew Educator Certification Program

11/27/2018

Earlier this week I got some great news that my application for the AECP was accepted. I’m a big fan of Altenew products and have been wondering how to take my crafty passion to the next level. The AECP seems like a good marriage of increasing my capacity for learning stamping, connecting me with other crafty people and giving me an outlet to teach others about stamping and creating.
To learn about the journey and my first submissions for AECP, read on.

Personalizing Christmas

Personalizing Stockings

...and their stockings were hung by the chimney with care
For Christmas this year, I purchased some stockings on Black Friday at Michael’s. I wanted to personalize them with everyone’s name.
I bought these cute plaid stockings with a large red cuff. I also bought an extra roll of Cotton Linen Cricut Iron on vinyl. On Cricut Design Space, I typed out the names and then decided on a system font: In Cricut Design Space there are Cricut Fonts you can purchase or the app can also use System Fonts you may already have.
The cuff measured 7” wide by 5” high. All the names are 1” high and I locked the height/width ratio to keep the sizes similar even though each name had different numbers of letters.
I cut out the vinyl using my Expression Air on the iron-on setting with mirror on selected. I then used my iron to adhere the vinyl onto the cuff. I used extra time with the heat so I could make sure the vinyl adhered to the thick felt.
They came out cute and I can’t wait to hang them up!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope this inspired you to personalize your Holiday Decor.

Refurbishing a table

11/17/2018

Being crafty takes many forms and this month it is taking on the rehab of a vintage kitchen side table. I bought the table for the express purpose of housing my antique typewriter. The colors didn’t fit my craft room and the legs were a bit too wobbly. So enter my bright idea of fixing the legs and painting the table. Read on for how I worked through this project.

This is the table as I found it. The legs were wobbly and the front left had a bolt through it as it had needed a repair. The top was in good shape but the red didn’t fit my craft room.
