Spring Fling Instagram Hop

3/22/2019

Celebrating National Craft Month

Hello friends. I am participating in my first ever hop! On Instagram! I regularly post on Instagram and I’d love it if you join me there @sevenscrafts. The hop today has a $50 gift certificate to Scrapbook.com where I do regularly shop for my card making supplies because I like their prices, selection and fast shipping. If you are hopping along, you came from Anna Komenda @moriony and your next stop is Nicole Watt @pixelmavensretreat. For today I am sharing an adorable love you card made with the Monster Love stamp set from Concord & 9th along with other supplies that are all available at Scrapbook.com. Please read on for how I put together this cute card.

Art Deco inspiration

Magical Markers

If I had to decide what kind of stamper/card maker I am, floral elegance would first come to mind. I like flowers and since they come in so many different colors, they are forgiving with crazy color combinations. In the Altenew Magical Marker class, I was really inspired by how the instructor used stencils with markers to make a graphic card. When I have a stencil, I have a need to use the entire stencil on my project. In this class, the instructor had recommended to use only part of a stencil and think outside the box. Challenge accepted and this is the card I came up with using Altenew Kaleidoscope stencil A, Copic Markers and Altenew in-line alpha dies. Please read on for how I put together this card.

Using Die Cuts on Cards

12/31/2018

For today’s card, I used dies and die cuts to make this card stand out. This card is another submission for the Altenew Educator Certification Program for the Easy Die Cutting class. The instructor in this class had a lot of unique ideas for how to use dies in different ways to achieve various looks on a card. For this card, I am using the Altenew Plaid A cover die and the Altenew inline alphabet dies. Please read along for how I made this card.

Clean and Simple

Clean & Simple Boutique Cards

Picture
For my next Altenew Educator Certification Program submission, we were challenged to make clean and simple cards. Clean and simple can be tough because those embellishments are just screaming to be adhered to your project. The toughest thing with clean and simple is less is more. The Altenew class, Clean and Simple Boutique Cards gave me some great ideas of how to achieve this difficult look. Using metallic elements and lots of white space lends to a great clean and simple card. Using Altenew's great floral sets helps because they come in such intricate and wonderful designs that you don't need much else on the card. Click below to read more about how I made this card.

Color Study

Using different colors with the same stamp

Savannah has this shirt with swipes of color that each contain a different phrase. I wanted to do something similar and thought Right At Home's Watercolor background stamp would be a great compliment to my idea. To give my cards a different look, I stamped the background with different colors of inks. Please read along for how I made 5 completely different cards using the same stamp.

Birthday card with masking

Papercrafting and making cards is so much fun. I really love how an idea pops into my head out of nowhere and then all of a sudden it's realized onto a card. Ultimately paper crafting is a two dimensional medium so even though I may have the grandiose of ideas, it's still got to fit in a 2-D medium. Enter: Masking. Masking allows for a bit of depth to your scene and especially if you have coordinating dies is simple to do.

Welcome, Baby card

Using backgrounds as a focal point

Waffle Flower Crafts last release contained a stamp set made for me: Plaid Play. This stamp set features strips of stamps in various widths and textures which when combined, can create a plaid background. I also love the idea of using some of these solid lines as borders on my cards. I had to get this set immediately.

Altenew July Challenge

7/27/2017

Over on the Altenew blog this month, the inspirational image really resonated with me. I love roses; absolutely my favorite flower. Roses remind me of summer and my grandfather who had an amazing knack for getting them to grow; his secret was composted manure.
